Publishers' Views on PRISM

Alex Palazzo on The Daily Transcript posted some publishers' reactions to PRISM's anti-open access stance -- they don't like it. Rockefeller's Mike Rossner asked for a disclaimer on PRISM's website and outlined five major reasons he did not agree with PRISM. Tom Wilson, an editorial board member of an Elsevier journal, resigned, saying, "I cannot let my name continue to be associated with a publisher who is prepared to use this kind of tactic." Nature's Timo Hannay says the only reason its journals cannot be open access is that they have yet to find a viable economic model to support it.
