We Think of It as the Synthetic Biology Sweatshop

Wired offers an article on the results of last week's International Genetically Engineered Machines competition at MIT. Known as iGEM, the competition pits teams of young students from around the world against each other in an attempt to perform the best synthetic biology work. After a summer's worth of work, this year's grand prize went to a team from Peking University, one of some 50 teams participating. iGEM was started by Tom Knight, Drew Endy, and Randy Rettberg.
