Just Like that Ant and His Rubber Tree Plant, We've Got High Hopes

Today's a big day for your genes. As this New York Times article reports, the US senator blocking the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act bill has been mollified, and the bill is expected to be up for debate and a vote sometime today. The story quotes Edward Abrahams from the Personalized Medicine Coalition as saying, "This bill removes a significant obstacle to the advancement of personalized medicine." President Bush has said he would sign the bill into law if it's passed by Congress.

For more on GINA, check out Blaine Bettinger's blog post about its history and coverage in the media. If all goes well for the bill, there could be much to celebrate on DNA Day tomorrow.
